Hiramedia : Dalam rangka membahas kerja sama pertahanan dan keamanan, Panglima Komando Pusat AS, Jenderal Kenneth McKenzie, berdiskusi dengan Kepala Staf Angkatan Bersenjata Qatar, Letnan Jenderal Salim bin Hamad bin Aqeel Al-Nabit, di Florida AS mengenai momentum kerja sama pertahanan antara Amerika Serikat dan Qatar , dan menyelesaikan konflik di Yaman.
Dilansir aljazeera.net (17/11/2021), melalui pernyataannya, Komando Pusat mengatakan bahwa Jenderal McKenzie dalam pembicaraan yang berlangsung di Markas Besar di Florida – menyampaikan penghargaannya atas kontribusi Qatar dalam proses evakuasi warganya dari Afghanistan.
Jenderal McKenzie mengatakan kesediaan dan dukungan Qatar untuk memfasilitasi transit warga AS dan Afghanistan yang rentan terhadap bahaya, sangat luar biasa.
Lebih lanjut Komandan Komando Pusat AS menambahkan bahwa upaya yang berlangsung dalam keadaan sulit tersebut, merupakan contoh terbaru kemitraan yang telah berlangsung puluhan tahun antara Washington dan Doha begitu istimewa.
Dan Daniel Benaim, Wakil Asisten Menteri Luar Negeri AS untuk Urusan Timur Dekat, mengkonfirmasi kemarin bahwa Qatar adalah mitra yang luar biasa. Ia mencatat bahwa Amerika Serikat akan mempertimbangkan permintaan Doha untuk mendapatkan drone dan pesawat F-35.
Nayem memuji Doha, dengan mengatakan bahwa “tidak ada negara di dunia yang telah melakukan lebih dari apa yang dilakukan Qatar untuk membantu kami di Afghanistan, dan ini adalah penghargaan untuk mereka.”
