Dulansir aljazeera.net (19/10/2021), Utusan khusus AS untuk Afghanistan, Zalmay Khalilzad, mengkonfirmasi dalam pernyataannya kepada Al-Jazeera pada hari Senin bahwa ia akan mundur dari jabatannya.
Seorang pejabat AS mengatakan kepada Reuters sebelumnya bahwa selama tiga tahun di posisi ini, Khalilzad menjadi wajah salah satu kegagalan diplomatik AS terbesar dalam ingatan baru-baru ini.
Blinken mengatakan bahwa wakil utusan AS untuk Afghanistan, Thomas West, akan menggantikan posisi Zalmay Khalilzad. (Fath)
