PM Naftali Bertemu Presiden Biden Bahas Hubungan Bilateral dan Keamanan Regional

Presiden AS Joe Biden menerima Perdana Menteri Israel, Naftali Bennett Kamis (26/8/2021) untuk membicarakan program nuklir Iran dan dukungan AS untuk Israel.
Kunjungan ini akan menjadi kesempatan bagi Biden dan Bennett untuk lebih mengenal satu sama lain, setelah Bennett menjabat Perdana Menteri pada Juni lalu.
“Ini akan menjadi pertemuan tatap muka pertama mereka,” kata seorang pejabat senior pemerintahan Biden kepada wartawan, dan akan membantu “mengenal satu sama lain ” seperti dilansir aljazeera.net (26/8/2021).
Naftali Bennett, menggantikan Benjamin Netanyahu sebagai kepala koalisi yang terbagi secara ideologis di mana partainya hanya memiliki beberapa kursi.
“Ada pemerintahan baru di Amerika Serikat dan pemerintahan baru di Israel, dan saya membawa semangat baru dari Yerusalem dan pesan baru dari Israel untuk keterlibatan dan komunikasi,” kata Bennett.
Sebelum memulai perjalanan pertamanya ke luar negeri sebagai Perdana Menteri, Bennett mengatakan kepada wartawan bahwa Joe Biden adalah “teman lama sejati Negara Israel.”

Diberitakan, Bennett telah mengkonfirmasi bahwa Iran akan menjadi topik utama kunjungannya.
Pembicaraan keduanya juga memgenai progran nuklir Iran, untuk menghidupkan kembali perjanjian setelah mantan Presiden AS Donald Trump menarik diri dan memberlakukan kembali sanksi pada Iran.

Sementara itu, Menteri Pertahanan AS Lloyd Austin menegaskan komitmen Amerika Serikat terhadap keamanan Israel dan “keunggulan militer kualitatifnya”.
Pada gilirannya, Menteri Luar Negeri AS Anthony Blinken meyakinkan Perdana Menteri Israel tentang komitmen “tak tergoyahkan” Amerika Serikat terhadap keamanan Israel.
Di sisi lain, penasihat Bennett menegaskan bahwa Perdana Menteri tidak berniat membahas dimulainya kembali negosiasi tentang pembentukan negara Palestina di wilayah yang dicaplok oleh Israel pada tahun 1967.
Seorang pejabat senior mengatakan kepada wartawan bahwa “masalah dua negara tidak ada dalam agenda … itu tidak ada.”
Pemerintah Joe Biden mendukung solusi dua negara dan telah melanjutkan bantuan ratusan juta dolar kepada Palestina setelah Trump membatalkan sebagian besar.
