Perwakilan Tetap Arab Saudi untuk PBB, Abdallah Al-Mouallimi, berpartisipasi dalam pertemuan tingkat tinggi untuk Hari Solidaritas Internasional dengan Rakyat Palestina, Badan Pers Saudi melaporkan, Kamis (28/11/2019) seperti dikutip Arabnews.com
Partisipasi ini menggarisbawahi kepercayaan Kerajaan terhadap hak-hak rakyat Palestina yang sah dan tidak dapat dicabut.
Dalam sepucuk surat kepada ketua Komite tentang Hak-hak Yang Tidak Dapat Diabaikan dari Rakyat Palestina, Kerajaan (Arab Saudi) menegaskan bahwa ia sangat mementingkan perjuangan Palestina.
Kerajaan menyatakan bahwa pihaknya tidak melihat pembenaran untuk kelanjutan konflik ini, terutama mengingat konsensus internasional tentang perlunya memenuhi hak rakyat Palestina dalam menentukan nasib sendiri dan pembentukan negara merdeka di sepanjang tahun 1967 yang berbatasan dengan Yerusalem sebagai ibukota, berdasarkan Inisiatif Perdamaian Arab dan resolusi PBB.
Sebagai pelindung tempat-tempat suci Islam, Kerajaan mengutuk keras serangan terhadap Haram Al-Sharif dan Masjid Al-Aqsa, dan mengutuk setiap perubahan dalam identitas historis dan keagamaan dan status hukum dari tempat-tempat suci.
Kerajaan juga mengatakan bahwa rakyat Palestina telah menderita dalam periode panjang pendudukan yang tidak adil, kebijakan penindasan yang sewenang-wenang dan rasis, penyerangan pemukiman ilegal, dan bahwa Kerajaan salut kepada mereka karena ketabahan dan perjuangan mereka untuk mempertahankan tanah, anak-anak dan kesucian mereka.
Ditegaskan bahwa Kerajaan tetap memiliki solidaritas dengan perjuangan Palestina dengan mendukung rakyat Palestina dan akan tetap menjadi pelopor dalam dukungannya bagi para pengungsi Palestina, dan akan melakukan segala upaya untuk menemukan solusi berkelanjutan bagi tantangan yang dihadapi mereka.
