Demonstrasi di Libanon Menumbangkan Pemerintahan SPerdana Menteri Saad Hariri
Pasca pengunduran diri Perdana Menteri Libanon, Saad Hariri, Selasa (29/10/2019), pemerintah Amerika Serikat melalui Kementerian Luar Negerinya yang disampaikan Menteri Sekretaris Negara / Menteri Luar Negeri, Mike Pompeo telah meminta Libanon untuk membentuk pemerintahan baru seperti diberitakan aawsat.com (30/10/2019) mengutip German Press Agency pada Selasa malam.
“Sehubungan dengan pengunduran diri Perdana Menteri Saad Hariri, Amerika Serikat menyerukan para pemimpin politik Libanon untuk mempercepat pembentukan pemerintahan baru yang mampu membangun Libanon yang stabil, makmur, dan aman yang menanggapi kebutuhan warganya,” kata Pompeo.
“Demonstrasi damai dan ekspresi persatuan nasional yang berlangsung selama 13 hari terakhir telah mengirim pesan yang jelas. “Rakyat Libanon menginginkan pemerintahan yang efektif, reformasi ekonomi dan diakhirinya korupsi yang merajalela.” kata Pompeo.
Dia melanjutkan: «Kita harus menghentikan kekerasan atau tindakan provokatif, dan menyerukan tentara Libanon dan layanan keamanan untuk terus memastikan hak dan keamanan bagi para demonstran».
Pernyataan Pompeo tersebut datang beberapa jam setelah Perdana Menteri Libanon Saad Hariri mengumumkan pengunduran diri pemerintahannya.
Beberapa sumber berita sebelumnya melaporkan bahwa para pengunjuk rasa di alun-alun ibukota Beirut, Libanon telah menyatakan kegemberiraan mereka dan menyambut baik langkah pengunduran diri Saad Hariri. Namun, mereka tetap tinggal di jalan sampai pemulihan dana yang dijarah dan meminta pertanggungjawaban dana yang diduga dikorupsi.
Unjuk rasa tersebut, terjadi sebagai respon atas dugaan korupsi yang merajalela dalam tubuh pemerintahan Hariri yang semakin menambah buruknya perekenomian negara tersebut. ( Fath)
