Beberapa media resmi Suriah memberitakan bahwa Pertahanan Udara Suriah menggagalkan serangan rudal Israel di sebuah Pusat Penelitian dan Pangkalan Militer di provinsi utara Aleppo, Senin (5/5/2020), dalam serangan kedua serupa dalam waktu kurang dari satu minggu.
Tentara Suriah mengatakan dalam sebuah pernyataan bahwa Israel telah menabrak barak militer di Sufairah di pedesaan Aleppo Utara, dan televisi pemerintah sebelumnya menyatakan bahwa sebuah pusat penelitian telah diserang.
Reuters mengutip sumber-sumber intelijen yang mengatakan bahwa helikopter Israel menembakkan beberapa rudal dari Dataran Tinggi Golan yang diduduki Israel terhadap sasaran di dalam wilayah selatan Suriah, yang dikenal sebagai pusat gerilyawan kelompok Hizbullah Libanon.
Sebuah observatorium yang mengamati perang di Suriah dan sumber-sumber intelijen mengatakan bahwa serangan Israel diyakini menjadi penyebab ledakan besar di sebuah depot amunisi dekat kota Homs pada hari yang sama.
