Hiramedia : Ribuan warga Israel melanjutkan demonstrasi pada hari Sabtu (8/8/2020) di berbagai wilayah Israel, menyerukan pengunduran diri Perdana Menteri Benjamin Netanyahu, karena kasus korupsi yang menghantuinya dan penanganannya terhadap pandemi Corona.
Ribuan orang Israel berkumpul dan menduduki area kediaman Netanyahu di Yerusalem dan menunjukkan pesan besar di salah satu bangunan di lokasi protes yang mengatakan “Waktumu sudah habis.” Mereka meminta Netanyahu untuk mengundurkan diri karena apa yang mereka gambarkan sebagai kegagalannya untuk melindungi pekerjaan dan perusahaan yang terkena dampak epidemi.
Saluran resmi “Kan” melaporkan bahwa hampir 10.000 orang warga Israel berdemonstrasi di depan kediaman Netanyahu di kota Yerusalem, dan ribuan lainnya berdemonstrasi di depan rumahnya di kota Caesarea (utara) Telaviv.
Para demonstran menuntut pengunduran diri segera Netanyahu, meneriakkan slogan seperti “Ini adalah perang melawan korupsi” dan “Ini adalah protes untuk pemulihan demokrasi,” dan para demonstran menyerukan untuk mengutuk Netanyahu dan pemerintahannya.
Di sisi lain, Netanyahu, yang dilantik untuk masa jabatan kelima sebagai Perdana Menteri Mei lalu setelah pemilu di mana ia memenangkan mayoritas secara tipis, menuduh pengunjuk rasa tidak menghormati demokrasi dan media Israel mendorong oposisi.
Protes telah meningkat secara berbahaya baru-baru ini terhadap Netanyahu, yang dituduh melakukan suap, pelanggaran kepercayaan dan penipuan, dalam 3 kasus korupsi, dan persidangan Netanyahu dimulai pada 24 Mei.
