Presiden Abbas: PLO Tidak Mengizinkan Siapa pun Untuk Bernegosiasi Atas Nama Rakyat Palestina

Presiden Palestina Mahmoud Abbas mengatakan Jumat, (25/9/2020) bahwa PLO belum mengizinkan siapa pun untuk berbicara atas nama rakyat Palestina, dan bahwa otoritas pendudukan sekarang sedang bekerja untuk mematikan kesempatan terakhir untuk perdamaian.
Dia menambahkan – dalam pidato lewat video di depan Majelis Umum Perserikatan Bangsa-Bangsa – bahwa perjanjian normalisasi antara Israel, UEA dan Bahrain bertentangan dengan Inisiatif Perdamaian Arab. Ia menyerukan Sekretaris Jenderal PBB dan Kuartet Internasional untuk mengadakan konferensi internasional awal tahun depan, untuk terlibat dalam proses perdamaian yang nyata.
Presiden Abbas bertanya, “Berapa lama masalah Palestina akan tetap ada tanpa solusi adil yang dijamin oleh legitimasi internasional?” Menekankan bahwa orang-orang akan terus bertahan meskipun mereka mengalami kekecewaan, dan mereka tidak akan berlutut dan tidak akan menyerah dan akan menang.
Dalam pidatonya, dia menyebutkan bahwa “kesepakatan abad ini” dan rencana Israel untuk mencaplok tanah akan menyita 33% tanah Palestina, menunjukkan bahwa Otoritas Palestina mematuhi inisiatif perdamaian Arab, tetapi otoritas pendudukan telah mengingkari kewajibannya.
Sebagai kesimpulan, Abbas menyatakan kesiapannya untuk mengadakan pemilihan Presiden dan parlemen dengan partisipasi dari semua kekuatan dan faksi “untuk menghentikan upaya untuk menghapus kami,” dan menekankan bahwa dia akan terus memerangi terorisme internasional “seperti yang kami lakukan di tahun-tahun sebelumnya, dan kami akan tetap setia pada perdamaian.” ( Fath)
